Pease note the following general points -
- we expect everyone to take the 'Guidelines' (see below) seriously - Covid-19 has not disappeared!
- we have a Liturgy planned for Pascha (the 2nd May) but this will be celebrated on Sunday morning, at our usual time, and not at night, as is the usual custom;
- we will need to ask for the contact details of anyone attending, who is not already known to us; please cooperate with us in doing this, as we may be asked by the Public Health authorities to disclose these details, should a member of the congregation subsequently test positive for Covid-19.

COVID-19: GUIDELINES FOR OUR SERVICES [200818]

Safe distances must be maintained outside the church as well as inside.

DO NOT COME TO CHURCH IF YOU FEEL UNWELL - anyone shielding or self-isolating or showing symptoms of the virus (high temperature/fever, cough, loss of smell/taste) must not attend.

Please do NOT try to enter the church before 11 a.m. on Sunday morning, as it will be closed for 25 minutes of deep cleaning beforehand.

ARRIVAL - face masks should be worn (as in shops and public transport) please avoid contact with persons outside of your own household; and please bow to the ikons, rather than kissing or touching them.

SEATING has been limited to maintain social distancing: please do not sit in any pews that have been roped off, or those marked with a red ‘X’, and do not sit close to the aisles; also, do not sit in any of the pews in front of our Reader(s)/Singer(s).

TRACK & TRACE - appointed helpers will be on hand to assist the celebrant in managing the service, and to record the contact details of any member of the congregation, who is not already known to us.

SINGING/CHANTING will be done by a Reader(s)/Singer(s) (3 max). There will be no singing (or responses given) by the other members of the congregation.

HOLY COMMUNION – as we will not be using a Communion Cloth at this time, please bring with you a designated cloth of your own (e.g. a handkerchief) to hold under your chin when receiving the Holy Gifts (one cloth per household is quite acceptable) and to wipe your lips afterwards. The cloth may be carefully rinsed later, if necessary, but it should not be subsequently used for any other purpose. Do not kiss the Communion Cup (or the priest’s hand) after receiving the Holy Gifts. When coming forward to receive the Holy Gifts, please maintain social distancing from persons outside of your own household.

ANTIDORON - when moving to take some of the antidoron, please maintain social distancing from persons outside of your own household. Some of the bread antidoron will be offered to you (no wine and water) by the priest, at the end of the service.

CLIFFE HALL is not open for the time being, but we do have a key to enable access to the ‘disabled WC’.

You may wish to bring some sustenance to enjoy after the service, but please remember to maintain social distancing at all times, whether you are inside or outside the church.

The services are celebrated mainly in English, with some prayers in Church Slavonic and Greek.

The Parish belongs to the worldwide Orthodox Church, being part of the Archdiocese of Thyateira & Great Britain, within the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Members of all Christian communities are most welcome to attend our services, but we will need to have your contact details.
