COVID-19: GUIDELINES FOR OUR SERVICES [220120]
DO NOT COME TO CHURCH IF YOU FEEL UNWELL
- anyone shielding or self-isolating or showing symptoms of the virus
(high temperature/fever, cough, loss of smell/taste) must not attend.
ARRIVAL - face masks should be worn.
SEATING has been limited to maintain social distancing: please do not sit in any
pews that have been roped off, or those marked with a red ‘X’, and do not sit close to
the aisles; also, do not sit in any of the pews in front of our Reader(s)/Singer(s).
HOLY COMMUNION – as we will not be using a Communion Cloth at this time,
please bring with you a designated cloth of your own (e.g. a handkerchief) to hold
under your chin when receiving the Holy Gifts (one cloth per household is quite
acceptable) and to wipe your lips afterwards. The cloth may be carefully rinsed later,
if necessary, but it should not be subsequently used for any other purpose. Do not
kiss the Communion Cup (or the priest’s hand) after receiving the Holy Gifts.
When coming forward to receive the Holy Gifts, please maintain social distancing
from persons outside of your own household.
ANTIDORON - when moving to take some of the antidoron, please maintain social
distancing from persons outside of your own household. Some of the bread
antidoron will be offered to you (no wine and water) by the priest, at the end of the
service
The services are celebrated mainly in English, with some prayers in Church Slavonic and Greek.
The Parish belongs to the worldwide Orthodox Church, being part of the Archdiocese of Thyateira & Great Britain, within the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Members of all Christian communities are most welcome to attend our services, but we will need to have your contact details.
